Luna Rossa over delivers every time we eat here. The service is fantastic. We never feel rushed. The food is so good from the pasta, veal, octopus! They also make the best cosmo - my daughters and I look forward to this each time we eat here.
My husband and I dine here frequently and always love the food, ambience and service. Last night, New Year's Eve, we decided to celebrate at home. Wondering where to order a special dinner to be delivered, we decided on Luna Rossa. We could not have been happier with the meal and the presentation. We both had the Polpettine di Manzo appetizer (large enough to save one for tonight); then we both had the Scalloppini Di Vitello ai Funghi which was absolutely delicious. It was also a large portion of veal, mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots and green beans, smothered in mushrooms and delicious gravy. We waited a while before we had the dessert, a light and fluffy cheese cake, served with mint and candied cherries. Every dish was artistically presented and delicious to eat. Thank you, Luna Rossa, for making our New Year's Eve dinner a very special one. Happy New Year to all of you. See you soon!
Can't explain how I overlooked this restaurant around the corner from me for 25 years-I'm a creature of habit short of exploration time. What a find at long last! Best place to experience Italy's cuisine with imaginative flourishes each night. The specials throughout the week provide any taste preference with the perfect solution. the staff is always welcoming snd accommodating. Vitello Tonato, calves liver and carmelized onions, shaved artichoke and arugula salad; fish so fresh you'll feel like you're adjoining Fulton Street Market. The space, while not large, offers enough reasonably well placed tables for privacy. Try my favorite caviatelli pasta w/ sausage and broccoli rabe. Don't miss desert either- Italian cheesecake perfect!
Great service! And great food! We wanted to split a pasta dish and they split it for us before serving which was unexpected and SO appreciated. Penne vodka is exceptional.
This is a quiet lovely Italian restaurant with amazing service. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu dishes ingredients and how the dish is made. This is very helpful when making decisions on what to order. I have dietary restrictions and the waiter knew exactly what I could eat and what dishes could be modified. The food was delicious! Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal and the wine.
Tonight's dinner was perfect. From the moment we sat down to the end even though they closed the kitchen before we could order dessert, everything else was delicious. We had wine and Ceasar salad to start with and octopus and lobster pasta for main entrees which was on the chefs special menu! The place was beautiful and service was great! I do only wish they were playing some Italian music in the background or something loud enough. Overall I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of chefs' specials and homemade fresh pasta!
This has been my go to for Italian food since moving into the area. The homemade pasta is always perfectly cooked - toothsome and al dente. The specials they rotate through are just that - SPECIAL. Dishes are balanced, flavorful and well executed. Luna Rosa is really a gem.
Enjoyed an absolutely divine feast at Luna Rossa! Followed the Yelp reviews to this highly-rated Italian restaurant near where we are staying on the Upper East Side. Service was warm and outstanding. Interior cozy and welcoming. And the food! My husband had the handmade tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms - it was out of this world, tender and flavorful. I had the pette di pollo. The chicken breast was flattened, sauteed in butter and parmesan, and absolutely to die for. My kids ended up eating most of it! Meanwhile I feasted on the veggies - broccoli rabe with garlic and artichokes, so tasty. The kids loved their spaghetti with tomato and basil sauce. We loved it!
I recently came here for dinner with my friend and had a fantastic experience. The waiter was attentive, offered fantastic recommendations regarding which wines to pair with our entrees, and provided top notch service. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and it was some of the best I've had. If you're looking for good, authentic Italian, this is definitely a strong contender - and it's reasonably priced as well. 5/5, would recommend
I came with a friend who lives on the same block. She wanted the home made lemon pepper tagliatelle with ragu. I couldn't decide so i ordered the endive and shaved fennel salad with pear and walnuts as well as the grilled octopus salad. Both were divine! I also had the mussels and clams in a light tomato broth which was scrumptious. We finished with a gluten free chocolate cake with espresso ice cream which was rich and not too sweet. I can definitely make my way through the menu here. And next time add Prosecco. They have an extensive wine list!
